Why does AmCheck choose to partner with SDHR?

I have to give all credit to my longtime friend, business partner and client, Ken Schmitt of Turning Point Executive Search (and SDHR Board Member) here.  He connected me with Jennifer Johnson when the sponsorship opportunity opened up for 2014, and after I attended a couple of Lunch & Learns, I was hooked.  Once I was able to learn more about the group and its members I was instantly intrigued.  We’re now heading into our second year of sponsorship and I’m excited for what’s ahead in 2015.  It’s no secret that California is one of the most difficult places to operate as an employer and my true passion is helping companies operate with the highest levels of efficiency while delivering the best service experience available in the industry.

What would you like the SDHR community to know about AmCheck?

Oddly enough, my perception is that most of the community knows that we provide payroll, but we’re actually a full service Workforce Management Company supporting companies of all sizes, from two to 25,000 employees.  Outside of payroll services, we’re truly experts in consulting with organizations who are considering cost comparison and separation strategies from PEO organizations.  Our most recent system release is superior to most “enterprise-level” offerings provided by our larger or better-known competitors, although AmCheck is a national firm with clients in all 50 states.  The great thing about AmCheck is that though we started as a PEO, most of us have large corporate experience – in fact, many of us are former ADP employees - and we’re truly a “Service Before Self”, locally-based organization.  In fact, 95% of our clients come from the largest two providers in the industry: ADP & Paychex.

What do you enjoy the most about the relationship between AmCheck and the SDHR community?

I’ve been in this industry for 10 years now and love working within the San Diego business community.  I’m originally from Ohio and was quite surprised by and absolutely love the closeness of the SDHR Community.  What a great group of individuals we get to interact with, sponsor, and support!  I’ve always lived by the adage “you have to give before you get and the more you give, the more you will receive.”  I enjoy meeting new people and supporting the needs of those who are looking for a true partnership-based service provider. 

What is your role at AmCheck?

As District Sales Manager, I’m responsible for new business development and leading potential new clients through a collaborative and consultative evaluation process.  Identifying new organizations in need of the services we provide is one of my main goals, and doing so without being aggressive or applying pressure is my forte.  Most of AmCheck’s new business comes to us through referrals, which makes networking and relationship-building a top priority for me. As we know, San Diego is a very tight-knit business community and reputation is paramount.
