Why did you choose Human Resources as a career?

I discovered early on the powerful effect happy employees make on the overall success of an organization.  Recruiting specifically allows me to focus on employee fit for both the open position as well as the overall company culture.  I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to participate in a process that if executed correctly, results in lasting employee engagement and productivity.

What do you enjoy most about your current role/working at your current company?

Working with veterans is extremely satisfying and the most enjoyable part of my role at Phillips & Pierce.  Like many people, I have a sincere appreciation for the sacrifices veterans make for our country.  A great way to show that appreciation is by helping them find meaningful employment after their military career ends.

How do you use your SDHR Roundtable membership in your current role?

SDHR Roundtable is a great resource for human resources professionals here in San Diego.  The group is full of experienced and knowledgeable folks with valuable insight into the local community.  The Lunch & Learn programs and networking events are a great place to learn and grow professionally in a very welcoming and relaxed environment.
