Why did you choose Human Resources as a career?

I spent the first five or so years of my career working in marketing research for consumer goods companies, but I found myself always wanting to help others with their careers.  My marketing and analytical skills became very useful when working to understand the needs of the business.  So, matching the right people for the right job and company is second nature to me.  Also, following my husband turned me into a “corporate nomad” and allowed me to develop some life skills that are relevant for recruiting non-local candidates.  Believe me, I know why it’s great to live and work in San Diego after living so many other places.

What do you enjoy most about your current role at Hologic?

I really love the HR team at Hologic.  They instill the same values that I share, such as working hard, making a difference in the company that we support, but at the same time, having a little fun at work too. Also, I love to recruit within the diagnostic business as each day I feel I make a difference by helping to understand more about human disease and health around the globe.

When did you join San Diego HR Roundtable?

I don’t remember for sure, but I think it was around 2005 when it was a simple List Serve.  Now of course, it has grown into a much richer organization. 

How do you use your SDHR Roundtable membership in your current role?

I use the Lunch and Learns and the Happy Hours to connect with and learn more about local HR community.  I have also used the job posting capabilities within the SDHR website which helps to promote the positions that I am recruiting for. 

Why have you continued to renew your membership in SDHR Roundtable?
