Alma Flores, SPHR, Sr. Manager, Talent Acquisition and Employee Relations at HM Electronics (HME)

Alma Flores has over 15 years of experience in Human Resources and over 10 years in management.  Alma is a San Diego native and attended Oceanside High School.  She worked full-time and put herself through UCSD, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. 

In 2002, Alma began her career in Human Resources at the Salk Institute in La Jolla as an HR Assistant and was quickly promoted to Staffing Coordinator.  In 2003, she accepted a position at Watkins Manufacturing as a Human Resources Representative.  Within a few years she was promoted into an HR Business Partner Role and then promoted to Talent Acquisition Manager.  In 2014, she joined HM Electronics as their Sr. Talent Acquisition Manager and soon was given the responsibility for Employee Relations as well. Alma specializes in the areas of Global Talent Acquisition and Employee Relations.

Sarah Hall, PHR, SHRM-CP, HR Generalist at Proven Recruiting

Sarah Hall has over 5 years of experience in Human Resources within the staffing industry and over 10 years in management.  Following graduation from Virginia Tech, “Go Hokies!,” with a Bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism management, she worked as a hotel Front Office Manager for 3 years before deciding to move across country to live in San Diego.

In 2007, she began her career in the staffing industry as a Recruiter with the intention of moving into Human Resources. In 2010, she accepted a recruiting position and assisted part-time in Human Resources.  Within one year, she assumed the entire operations of Human Resources for the company and has since earned her PHR and SHRM-CP certifications. Sarah specializes in the areas of employment law and compliance, recruitment, training and development, benefits, workers’ compensation, payroll, and employee relations.

We asked Sarah some questions about human resources, what is her favorite parts about being a HR Generalist, and what she loves the most about her membership @ San Diego HR Roundtable.

Erin ImHof, HR Director at HootWinc

Erin ImHof is one highly educated SDHR Member.  Not only does she have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University, but she holds not one but TWO Masters Degrees.  Her first is a Master’s of Human Resources Management and her second  is a Master’s in Public Administration from Keller Graduate School.  She also has a Human Resources Certificate from Cornell University and her PHR and SHRM-CP.  In her spare time (we are amazed she has any!) Erin enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends and cooking. 

Erin has nine years of Human Resources experience in the credit, education, manufacturing/distribution and restaurant industries.   She started her career with Experian Consumer Direct in 2007 and worked for DeVry University, Harrington Plastics, Hydranautics, PFT and is currently at HootWinc, where she is the Human Resources Director.  In her current role, she drives Human Resources strategy, focuses on safety issues, recruits management candidates, handles employee relations issues, leads training initiatives and develops new policies and procedures, among many other functions.  She is looking forward to continue to provide great customer service to internal employees through proactively listening to employees and problem solving complex issues.

Elisabeth Waltz, MA

Elisabeth Waltz is a recent transplant from Chicago, where she participated in the business community as a full-time HR Specialist as well as a part-time volunteer member of the Board of Directors for the Organization Development Network of Chicago. She has a B.A. in English from Wheaton College (MA) and an M.A. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, as well as PHR and SHRM-CP certifications.

Elisabeth comes from a non-profit organization at the intersection of healthcare and education (testing medical students, to be precise) where she provided HR leadership for a fast-growing office of 50+ employees. She handled all functional areas of HR, with focus on recruiting and onboarding, performance management and training, policy and procedure development, and program implementation and management. She is passionate about organizational development and corporate social responsibility, and particularly about any opportunity to unite the two.

We asked Elisabeth some questions about human resources, what kind of opportunity she’s looking for in San Diego, and her membership in San Diego HR Roundtable.

Stacy Zapar, Tenfold Social Training

One of the benefits of membership in SDHR is access to top notch workshops led by amazing speakers. Stacy's an 18-year recruiting veteran for Fortune 500 tech companies and an advisor for Zappos, TripAdvisor, Restoration Hardware and many others. She is the Most Connected Woman on LinkedIn since 2008 and was named 2015 Trendsetter of the Year for Talent Acquisition by SHRM, and ranked #6 on Huffinton Post's Top 100 Most Socail HR Experts on Twitter. Stacy recently held an all-day recruiting workshop for SDHR which was a huge success.  If ever there was a trainer who divulged all their trade secrets without refrain, it's Stacy. She's motivated to share all her knowledge with other recruiters because she wants to elevate the standards of recruiting practices as a whole.
