Janet Schlarmann, HR Administrator, CRES Insurance Services

The first 32 years of Janet's career, after high school, she worked as a housewife and stay-at-home mom. When her son bought a boutique clothing store in Pacific Beach, she took a turn as a ‘shop-girl’, but after he sold the store, Janet joined the Customer Service Department of CRES Insurance Services. Janet has had many roles at CRES, ranging from data entry to Accounts Payable, eventually becoming the HR Assistant to the CFO, who was acting HR Director at the time. When CRES hired Frank Drdek as the full time HR Director, Janet moved over to the HR Department permanently and became HR Administrator. For the past four years Janet has received valuable training from Frank, and grown into the role of HR Generalist. She loves HR, and says, “There is so much to learn, but it is a tremendously rewarding field.” We asked Janet some questions about herself, HR and her membership in SDHR Roundtable.

Alisa A. Shorago, J.D., Shorago Training Services

Alisa A. Shorago, J.D., is an accomplished and entertaining trainer, instructor, and speaker based in Southern California, as well as an attorney with over 15 years’ litigation experience, including experience defending sexual harassment suits. Alisa began providing sexual harassment prevention training (AB 1825) because she found it more satisfying to help people stay out of trouble than deal with matters once they had reached the litigation stage. She knew it would be possible to be not only an entertaining sexual harassment trainer but an informative one, so that participants would pay attention and actually learn.
