HR and Ops Collide:

"How the HR Professional's Role Can Optimize Operational Efficiencies, Infrastructure, and Workflow"

SDHR Roundtable 2017 Lunch and Learn Series

 Sponsored by

Human Resource professionals are in a unique position to influence company culture and business results through the development of both people and processes.  Join Michael Valenzano from Equal Parts Consulting for an interactive discussion about strategies to apply principles of Lean Manufacturing to the role of human resources.  During the event, we will discuss:

People & Processes: HR is the Glue - A discussion to see how the HR professional’s role in human capital development crosses into the world of operational workflow, processes, and development of key performance indicators.

  • An introduction into Lean Principles - A high-level overview of what it means to THINK and ACT Lean.  Through the application of Lean Principles, the merging of HR and Operations is brought into focus and the potential business results revealed.
  • Putting Lean Principles into Action - A collaborative group exercise to practice a few fundamental Lean Principles in a real-life exercise.
  • Culture & Leadership - A discussion about how organizational culture and leadership buy-in is foundational for the ability to impact tangible change through the embodiment of a true Lean culture.  HR’s role is key to success.
  • How Organizational Values Drive Operations - With Lean Principles in mind, a model of how company values truly drive business decisions and ultimately impact company operations will be reviewed and discussed.
  • Time Awareness through a Lean Lens - Taking into consideration all content covered, an individual exercise to explore how to apply Lean Principles to individual time management through an analysis of Value Add versus Non-Value Add tasks.
A creative, concise, and thoughtful communicator, Michael Valenzano has spent the last fifteen years refining a unique and fresh approach towards helping organizations solve cultural and operational pain-points.  Prior to being a founding partner of Equal Parts Consulting, Michael spent four years as both a Human Resources Consultant and a Business Partner for a business solutions and management consulting firm.  He also worked for Costco for over a decade and held a variety of positions ranging from Human Resources Manager to an Analyst focusing on financial forecasting and process efficiency. Michael holds a Master of Professional Studies in Human Resources and Employment Relations with an emphasis in Employment and Labor Law from Pennsylvania State University, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from University of North Florida, and is PHR® Certified.
